When one chooses a city staycation, why not reside in what was one of London’s former major banks? Abandoned for eight years but now in the hands of Soho House & The Sydell Group. This architectural Grade I listed dream becomes Soho House’s newest Luxury Hotel The Ned.
Poised at the large entrance doors which swing open by the hands of the doorman. ” Welcome to The Ned Sir ” I enter through the former grand banking hall where your culinary senses are teased as you pass some of the nine (yes nine) restaurant and dining spaces.
Check in couldn’t be any swifter as the luggage porter wheels my case to the room. With a first glance over this stunningly designed room with a touch of 1920’s glamour. All amenities are catered for! Actually above and beyond with full size Cowshed grooming products, they’ll be no holding back!
Nothing is too much at The Ned, a simple dial for room service and within the blink of an eye the butler softly knocks and enters the room armed with dinner. I’m devouring the Nickel burger with a side of fries and a glass of Moet.
Waking up early on a Sunday when your’e deep in plump pillows is a tough one but on Sunday’s It’s acceptable to have that extra me time. At the touch of a button coffee is served with my in room coffee machine.
The Sunday morning routine was more than perfect, first coffee in bed (who wouldn’t) then down to the pool for a few laps and a float around whilst I dream that check out will never happen! Sauna and steam, all this AM activity is sure to leave one peckish so with many breakfast options available I decided to venture out from in room dining and head to Millie’s Lounge for a full English. To counteract what was to come I began with a mouthwatering fruit salad bowl.
When time is on your side It’s easy to slumber in these plush velvet chairs but those who know the City which from Monday – Friday is jammed packed with business types but weekends are another matter, hardly a sole in sight as everything shuts up for the weekend. This is the perfect time to step outside the hotel and explore the neighbourhood.
